Compared with other synthetic fibers, including nylon, polyester and aramid fiber, UHMWPE fiber has the highest strength-weight ratio. Braided fishing lines made with UHMWPE fiber are stronger, thinner, more sensitive and more durable than equivalent monofilament nylon fishing lines.
